Brown algae oligosaccharides promote Bifidobacterium proliferation

Alginate oligosaccharides are marine oligosaccharides degraded by enzymes. It is found that fucoidan oligosaccharides have physiological activities such as regulating plant growth and inducing plant disease resistance. The effect of brown algae oligosaccharides on the growth of Bifidobacterium was studied in this study.

The effect of brown algae oligosaccharides on the growth of Bifidobacterium in vitro was studied by photoelectric turbidimetry. the brown algae oligosaccharide test medium was prepared on the basis of bifidobacterium basal medium with 10,5,2.5,1.25,0.625,0.3125 g/L brown algae oligosaccharides instead of glucose as the carbon source of the medium, respectively. Results in the experimental medium with brown algae oligosaccharide as carbon source, in the range of 10 g/L to 0.625 g/L, with the decrease of brown algae oligosaccharide concentration in the medium, the promoting effect of brown algae oligosaccharide on the growth of bifidobacterium was gradually enhanced, while in the range of 0.625 g/L to 0.3125 g/L, with the further decrease of the concentration of brown algae oligosaccharide in the medium, the promoting effect of brown algae oligosaccharide on the growth of Bifidobacterium was gradually weakened. when the concentration of fucoidan oligosaccharides in the experimental medium was in the range of 5 g/L to 0.3125 g/L, the OD values were higher than those in the corresponding basal control medium, indicating that fucoidan oligosaccharides served as a carbon source for bifidobacterium culture in vitro than glucose promoted the growth of bifidobacterium outside. in the experimental medium, when the concentration of fucoidan oligosaccharides was 1.25 g/L, the od value of the medium was about 1.294±0.009, and the pH of the medium was 5.0. when the concentration of fucoidan oligosaccharides was 0.625 g/L, the OD value of the medium was the largest, about 1.327±0.183, and the pH of the medium was 5.2, indicating the maximum effect of fucoidan oligosaccharides on the proliferation of bifidobacterium at this time. when the concentration of brown algae oligosaccharides in the medium was 0.3125 g/L, the promoting effect of brown algae oligosaccharides on the growth of bifidobacteria was weakened. indicating that bifidobacterium proliferated best in the experimental medium prepared at a concentration dose of 1.25 g/L to 0.625 g/L of brown algae oligosaccharides. At the same time, the growth adaptation period of Bifidobacterium could be shortened by the fucoidan experiment.

 

The results showed that the oligosaccharides of fucoidan significantly promoted the growth of Bifidobacterium, which was better than that of glucose as carbon source. the suitable amount of brown algae oligosaccharides in the medium was 1.25 g/L to 0.625 g/L.
