Effects of Alginate Oligosaccharides on Soybean Seed Germination and Seedling Physiology

Alginate oligosaccharide (ADO) is a marine oligosaccharide that is degraded by biological enzymes and chemical oxidation. It has significant anti-tumor, nerve repair, immune enhancement, growth promotion and many other physiological activities. A large number of studies have shown that ADO can promote plant growth, induce plant disease resistance, and regulate plant growth, thereby improving crop quality and increasing crop yield. Zhang Shoudong and others studied the effect of ADO seed soaking on soybean seed germination and seedling physiological activity. In the experiment, a certain amount of AD0 was accurately weighed, and distilled water was used to prepare 250 mL of ADO solution with a mass concentration of 0.625, 1.25, 2.5, and 5g/L. Select plump and uniform soybean seeds for disinfection treatment, put them in an oligosaccharide solution and soak them at room temperature for 12 hours, and use distilled water treatment as a control. Each group has 100 seeds, and each treatment has 3 parallel groups. After the soaked and expanded seeds were washed with distilled water, they were placed in a paper bed in a thermostat at 25° C. to germinate and cultivated. The germination rate was measured on the 5th and 8th days. After the treated seeds were soaked for 12 hours, the lipase activity was measured every 2 days. Select the seeds that have germinated and grow in a similar manner, sow them in pots, and cultivate them under light at room temperature. After 24 days, the growth and various physiological indexes of soybean seedlings were measured, and each treatment was repeated 5 times. The test results showed that 0.625g/L of ADO can increase the germination vigor of soybean seeds and the lipase activity during the germination process (see Figures 1 and 2), as well as the chloroplast pigment mass fraction and biomass of seedlings (see Table 1). Overall, the effect of ADO on the mass fraction of soluble protein is not significant. With the increase of ADO mass concentration, the root vitality gradually increased (see Table 1 and 2). It shows that soaking seeds with low-quality concentration of ADO can increase the germination rate of soybean seeds, the activity of lipase during germination and the physiological activity of seedlings, speed up the metabolic process, promote soybean growth, and high-quality concentration of ADO inhibits soybean growth, but the root vitality will compensate. Increased sex to ensure the normal growth of plants.
